Altar Guild

Whenever there is worship in the church, or any church service, you can be sure that the altar guild has been there in advance preparing the space to welcome parishioners and newcomers alike so that all may “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 96:9). We take our direction from Fr. Lyndon in all of the work that we do.

Holy Comforter’s Altar Guild is a member of the National Altar Guild Association, giving us the opportunity to be part of a wider Episcopalian group, including the Diocese of Colorado and the nation. It is a joy to work with this dedicated and talented group of people. You can hear laughter coming from the sacristy on any given Saturday morning as we perform our tasks.

There are no prerequisites for being a part of the altar guild at Holy Comforter. Men, women, and youth are welcome. Training is simple and conducted “on the job.” We are divided into teams, each serving one weekend per month, so the time commitment is minimal, or you can be as involved in special services and projects as you desire.

Music

Our offerings are diverse, drawing from a rich tradition and celebrating modern contributions to sacred music. Bell choirs and voice choirs for all abilities enhance our worship, provide music education and build community. Note that Sanctuary Choir and Joyful Ring welcomes high school singers/ringers.

Youth and Family

Our hope is to include Children and Youth more in the activities of the Church. We are planning to provide them the opportunity to actively participate in Service on the 2nd Sunday of each month with the goal of making our program more inter-generational.

The Sunday School program for Kindergarten through 5th Grade is led by three seasoned volunteers who will be following the Whirl Lectionary during the school year. This is a 3-year curriculum that follows the Revised Common Lectionary using Bible stories, games and discussion. In a loving and safe atmosphere children are encouraged in their journey of Christian Faith, bringing it into their lives and the lives of their friends. In the morning they meet in the Narthex (right inside the red doors). They process in and follow their teachers to the chapel for classes. The rejoin the service at start of Communion after the class.

If you’re interested in this program, please click on this link to Register. Due to school holidays in different districts served by our Church we do NOT meet on these Sundays:

The Youth Group (Grades 6-12) will be meeting the 2nd Sunday of each month during the school year in their new space, “The Landing.” The time is from 11-1 after Service. We are excited to provide a caring and respectful place for them to Be and Grow in their faith journeys. Through faith formation, conversation, discussion, art, music, and games they will have an opportunity to see God as a relevant reality in their lives. We invite those in the congregation who would love to share their careers and expertise with our Youth. If you’re interested in this program, please click this link to register.
